Elena Jagar, author of middle grade novels and short stories for kids. Her most recent release, THE LAST GATEKEEPER, is book II in The Fairy Tunnels fantasy series for middle-grade readers. Full of adventure, magic, and friendship, it will captivate readers both young and young at heart.

Elena’s writing spans several genres, and she believes that each book is a new experience that brings its own surprises and challenges with it. A good story is made up of great characters that are relatable and interesting enough to stay with the reader long after the book is closed. She hopes her young readers come away from her books feeling that nothing is impossible and that, no matter how difficult the situation, a way through can always be found.

When she’s not writing stories for children, Elena enjoys horseback riding, tai chi, smelling the flowers, and petting bumblebees.

Currently living overseas teaching English, Elena looks forward to having a garden and a menagerie of pets when she finally settles down in one place.

As a former teacher with a degree in French, I spent several years living in an uptown Brooklyn neighborhood, frequenting its many cafes and coffee houses and getting to know it from the inside out. During my undergraduate years, I also worked at a small bakery, much like the one depicted in my Sandie James Mysteries series, where I developed a lifelong fondness for cheesecake brownies.
